Al Ain Zoo

Sheikh Zayed opened the Al Ain Zoo in 1968 as a sanctuary for endangered Arabian animals, located in the "Garden City" of the UAE. Today, it has developed into a modern conservation park covering 900 acres. It is home to over 4,000 animals and more than 200 species. The zoo features rare desert species, including lions and cheetahs, and integrates conservation, entertainment, and education into a single facility.

What Will You Experience?

Visiting the Al Ain Zoo is like stepping into a natural setting with actual animals. Families can walk along the extensive paths, and kids can play in entertaining and instructive interactive enclosures. A highlight is the Desert Safari Experience, which takes guests on a guided drive to observe antelopes, giraffes, zebras, and rhinos in an authentic setting.

Additional attractions include the Big Cat Oasis, Bird Aviaries, and Chimpanzee Forest. Wildlife lovers can also experience feeding sessions, where they can watch penguins eat or feed giraffes.

In the Children's Garden, the younger tourists are introduced to farm animals and farm plants in an entertaining manner that leaves them curious. Shaded rest areas, cafes, and educational centers are spread all over the park, offering both relaxation and diversity to all ages.

When to Go?

The zoo is open year-round, but October to April offers the most pleasant weather for outdoor exploring. Thanks to Al Ain’s milder climate compared to coastal cities, even summer evenings can be comfortable for shorter visits.

Nearby Highlights

Pair your trip with nearby attractions for a full-day outing. Jebel Hafeet is only a few minutes away with its picturesque mountain drive. The Al Ain Oasis is also very nearby, and so is the Al Ain Palace Museum, giving you a chance to visit something cultural and natural to make your time at the zoo worth it.
