Fujairah Museum is the place where history comes to life in every nook and cranny. This is the case of what began as a one-room exhibition in the year 1969 with the display of coins, pottery, weapons, and farming tools, and has grown to be a cultural landmark. It was actually opened in 1991 in its current shape, and after some years, in 1998, it was extended to several halls. Today, it offers visitors a window into the emirate’s past, blending archaeology, heritage, and tradition under one roof.
The museum has five halls: two for archaeological finds and three for heritage and local culture.
You’ll see exhibits on how people in Fujairah lived long ago, including fishing, weaving, farming, trade, pottery, and daily tools. There are displays of ancient weapons, traditional costumes, and household utensils. One striking artifact is a 2,500-year-old ostrich egg from Qidfa, plus arrowheads, carnelian beads, painted pottery, soft-stone vessels, silver coins, and more from sites like Al Badiyah, Dibba, and Qidfa.
You’ll also walk through a recreated old souq (marketplace) and spice shop exhibit, which lets you see what life and trading were like in old Fujairah.
Between October and April is the most comfortable. Mornings or late afternoons are cooler and better for exploring without a rush. This museum is mostly indoors, but parts of the exploration (outside areas, walk-ups) are nicer in milder weather.
Opening Hours: Usually 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM, then 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM Sunday to Thursday. On Fridays, it opens later in the afternoon.
The Fujairah Museum is located near Fujairah Fort in the heart of the city, making it easily accessible by car or taxi. From Dubai, it’s roughly a 1 hour 45-minute drive (around 120 km) via the scenic Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road (E84). There’s free parking available right outside the museum entrance, and most local taxis know the location well.
